COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The purpose of this course is to introduce some of the theoretical and methodological tools of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA). During the spring CDA course at the Centre of Discourse Studies we focused on the discursive and cognitive dimension, for the fall course, we take into account the previous dimensions, but we focus on the social and historical aspects of discourse analysis.

The course is aimed, on the one hand, at researchers as well as master's and doctoral students who are interested in or conducting research related to CDA. The course will also be relevant for professionals who work with discursive practices in social life: news, interviews, reports, advertisements, laws, teaching, publicity, etc.

The course consists of 20 hours of class, six 3-hour classes and a final 2-hour session. You may register for the entire course or individual classes. All classes will be held online.

The course will be taught by Dr. César Rojo and the last class lecture will be given by Prof. Dr. Teun van Dijk

PROGRAM:
